The basketball world has had much to talk about since LaVar Ball and the Ball family hit the scene. The boisterous patriarch of the clan predicted that he had three NBA lottery picks and envisioned all three of them playing for the Lakers after each spending a year hooping at UCLA.
LaVar's prediction came true for his oldest son Lonzo but his middle son LiAngelo finds himself still hoping to land on an NBA roster a week after the 2018 draft. But as Gelo waits to see if he's picked up by a team one thing he's not doing and that's hopping on a JBA squad.
"Right now, I'm taking it day by day. I'll be willing to play in the G League and get moved up from there. That's an option. I'm not going to play in the JBA. I feel like that's taking a step back for me. If I have to play in the G League, then that's what it's going to be. I'm not running away from the work."
The JBA was established by Gelo's father LaVar as an alternative route to the league circumventing the need to play a year in college or go overseas. The youngest Ball, LaMelo is currently headlining the JBA but LiAngelo is looking to forge his own path into the NBA. Although a move back overseas couldn't hurt considering his solid play for Vytautas Prienu where he averaged nearly 13 points on 42.5 percent from the field and chipped in an average of 3 boards per game as well.
