44-year-old Therese Okoumou, an immigrant from the Democratic Republic of Congo, could face charges (i.e. trespassing, interference with government agency functions, and disorderly conduct). She is due in Manhattan court today.

A woman has been arrested and remains in police custody after she scaled the Statue of Liberty in protest of Donald Trump's family separation policy for immigrants. The woman chose the most symbolic day, July 4th, to stage her protest about the inhumane policy enacted by the Trump administration.
However, by 2 pm EST, NYPD emergency service unit was able to reach the woman who made it up the base of the statue.
