Update 01/01/2019:
As 21 Savage released his sophomore album I am > I was last week to mostly critically acclaim, one of it's most celebrated moments was the J Cole feature on the opening track 'a lot.' Over DJ Dahi production Cole shared his suspicions of the streaming numbers, opening his verse by asking:
"How many faking they streams? (A lot)/Getting they plays from machines (A lot)/I can see behind the smoke and mirrors n***** ain't really big as they seem (Hmm)/I never say anything (Nah), everybody got they thing (True)/Some n***** make millions, other n***** make memes."
... later confessing that "I guess I was hoping the music would speak for itself/but the people want everything else."
Unfortunately, however, the people won't get to hear the J Cole verse on the CD version of 21 Savage's new album, as it's been replaced by a new 21 verse instead. Although there's been no confirmation as to why Cole doesn't appear, it's likely that the verse was recorded after the CDs were already mass produced.

Original 12/21/2018:
Tekashi 6ix9ine recently was locked up after being named in a federal indictment for his alleged role in conspiring to commit crimes including armed robberies, murder, and selling drugs. A few artists have spoken about the Brooklyn rapper and showed support, and now J. Cole can be added to that list.
During a verse he spit on 21 Savage’s latest album ‘I am > I was,’ J. Cole said:
Pray for Tekashi, they want him to rot
I'm picturing him inside a cell on a cot
Flaunting on how he made it to the top
Wondering if it was worth it or not
Tekashi 6ix9ine is awaiting trial which is scheduled for September 4, 2019. The rapper is currently battling what could be a life sentence in prison.
