As 21 Savage remains incarcerated for reportedly overstaying his Visa, a hip-hop legend is stepping up to make sure he has all the necessary resources to avoid potential deportation. As reported by TMZ, JAY-Z has enlisted Roc Nation to get 21 the best representation in the business through the decorated attorney, Alex Spiro, who's been hired to represent and speak on the artist's behalf.
“We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge,” Spiro said in a recent statement, “What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for 4 years – not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and sealed.”
Spiro has previously represented the likes of Jay, Mick Jagger and Bobby Shmurda within the music industry, as well as athletes such as Thabo Sefolosha, Matt Barnes, and Aaron Hernandez in high-profile cases over the years. Additionally, he's reportedly led litigations on behalf of Robert Durst and Philip Seymour Hoffman, while more recently he's prioritized cases related to Civil Rights.
Meanwhile, similar to the way he supported Meek Mill, JAY-Z has reportedly called the arrest of 21 Savage “an absolute travesty” and a “matter of injustice.”
