Back in December, the world got the very first look of Will Smith as the Genie in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney's Aladdin, though many fans were left somewhat bewildered when they only saw a rather dull human-form of what's universally remembered as a classic animation. For that reason, Smith must have known that fans might have been underwhelmed when they saw the Entertainment Weekly cover, thus he promised that same day that he would be the same color blue as the animated character once played by Robin Williams.

Now with only a few months prior to its release date, Disney released a one-minute trailer during the Grammys that finally reveals the Genie in his final form, summoned out of the lamp in the final moments to say: “You really don’t know who I am? Genie? Wishes? Lamp? None of that ringing a bell?”

Following the release of the trailer, Smith then took to IG to say "I told y’all I was gon’ be Blue!! Y’all need to trust me more often! 😆 #aladdin," though as what was probably suspected, due to nostalgia from fans and critics the new Genie has been met with mixed reviews.

All the same, Smith appears to be really excited about his latest role, previously stating: “I got to do everything I know how to do in this movie. I got to act and it was comedy and beautiful dramatic scenes, I got to sing, I got to rap, I got to dance, I got to do action sequences — it was everything that I’ve trained and learned how to do over the last 30 years of entertainment and I got to it use all in playing the Genie.”

Thus with much anticipation, Aladdin is set to open in theatres on May 24th.
