The Los Angeles Lakers have had an overall underwhelming season with flashes of the potential playoff team they could've been had injuries and trade rumors not gotten in the way. The Lakers' mediocre play has led to rumors that head coach Luke Walton will be fired this offseason. New York Times writer Marc Stein reported, "The prevailing assumption in league coaching circles remains that Walton will almost certainly be dismissed after the season."

Luke Walton has put up a 91-136 record over the course of his tenure in Los Angeles. When taking over the job he was put in place to oversee a rebuild with a young core, but the addition of LeBron James expedited the championship rebuild process. So much so, Walton has found himself the odd man out, or at the least, the first to go as Stein reports trade talks for Anthony Davis are set to resume this summer as well.
