According to a statement issued by Disney CEO Bob Iger, the issue involving Jimmy Kimmel and others wearing blackface in the past was handled as a “private matter.”

The CEO said “This particular incident we choose to deal with as a private matter. We don’t condone the use of blackface under any circumstance in our world today. We dealt with the incidences privately. We did not feel it required any particular comment."

Iger issued this statement during a shareholders meeting in St. Louis when asked how the issue was addressed by the National Center for Public Policy Research. Iger also said that Kimmel was death with “swiftly.”

Nick Cannon recently spoke on whiteface and how he feels there is no such thing, and now the entertainer has called out white celebrities who are currently in pop culture for wearing blackface in the past.

Among the people shown in an image he posted on Instagram were Sarah Silverman, Jimmy Fallon, and Jimmy Kimmel. On his caption, Cannon said “Happy “BLACKFACE” History Month!!! 🤦🏾‍♂️ I’m sure we can expect some more “Apologies” by Monday…

This comes after Gucci received backlash for releasing a sweater that resembled blackface and racist imagery.
