Giannis Antetokounmpo was named the 2018-19 NBA MVP on Monday night and accepted the prestigious honor full of emotion. While his award was well deserved, others think that Giannis may have robbed the rightful MVP in the Houston Rockets' James Harden. The Rockets official Twitter account posted a tweet that acknowledged Antetokounmpo as the MVP but "respectfully disagreed" with the pick before doing what the Rockets do best and that is, make the case for Harden analytically.
The Rockets laid out some impressive stats on Harden's behalf, for instance: First player in NBA history to avg at least 35.0ppg & 7.0apg in a single season, scored 40+ pts 28 times this season, 50+ 9 times & 60+ twice, and 32 consecutive games scoring at least 30pts, 2nd-longest in league history.
While this is a regular season award, many thought the timing of the ceremony undercut the allure of the award, especially considering that the season is over and Kawhi Leonard would probably be everyone's pick at this point if you were to take the entire season (regular season x playoffs) into account.
