According to Dallas' NBC 5, rapper Tay-K's murder trial is set to begin on Tuesday (July 16). Jury selection began on Monday, with opening statements and testimony to follow the next day. The trial is expected to last one week.
Tay-K, who gained popularity with his hit song "The Race" that he filmed after cutting off his ankle monitor and going on the run for 3 months, is accused of killing 21-year-old Ethan Walker during a home invasion in June 2016. He is also accused of killing 23-year-old Mark Anthony Saldivar a month after going on the run. Saldivar was a photographer hired by Tay-K, who reportedly planned to rob Saldivar of his equipment, and he was shot and killed in the incident. The rapper is also accused of severely beating a 65-year-old man in a park and organizing a gang called Rug Rats while in jail.
Since Tay-K was 16 when the murder took place, he is facing 40 years in prison.
