Prosecutors played video of rapper Tay-K during the second day of his trial on Wednesday (July 17), which showed "The Race" artist seemingly wiping tears from his eyes. According to CBS 11, the court heard Tay-K admit to being part of a botched robbery where 21-year-old Ethan Walker was killed.
Walker's roommate, Zachary Beloate, testified on Wednesday, telling the court that he planned to take the girl he thought he was dating out to celebrate her birthday. After smoking weed with his girlfriend and two of her friends, Beloate said he was stunned to see a stranger walk through his front door, which he always kept locked. Beloate stated, "Obviously I was set up, and I knew it from that point on."
Beloate added that he didn't hear gunshots in the house and wasn't aware that his friend, Ethan Walker, had been shot. Beloate testified, "I ran over to the hallway. I see Ethan laying on the ground. He was gasping for air. I told him, 'You’re going to be all right.'" However, he knew Walker was dead when he heard paramedics say that they were losing him.
Tay-K pleaded not guilty to capital murder in the death of Walker, but he pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of aggravated robbery by threats. If found guilty of capital murder, Tay-K will be automatically sentenced to life in prison with a chance of parole after serving 40 years.
