According to reports, Chicago’s Mount Sinai Hospital temporarily stopped accepting patients over the week because they were at capacity after a string of shootings. Senior VP for External Affairs—Roberta Ravoke said the hospital was on “bypass,” which means the hospital stopped accepting ambulance runs, directing them to other trauma centers in the area. Fox 5 News reported that Mount Sinai had 12 trauma patients at their peak early Sunday morning.

Police Chief Eddie Johnson addressed the shootings that left many in the hospital and forced the “bypass,” saying that three different shooting incidents occurred and resulted in 10 injuries. One of the injuries resulted in death.
