According to reports, billionaire and accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide in a Manhattan jail where he was being held.
The death was confirmed by a spokesperson for the Manhattan medical examiner’s office confirmed the death of Epstein and said: “We have opened an investigation.” Prison officials told media outlets that Epstein was found early Saturday morning in his cell.
This comes after a previous suicide attempt. For those unaware, Epstein was arrested and accused of running a sex trafficking operation which allegedly found him sexually abusing underaged girls between 2002 and 2005. Some of the girls were allegedly as young as 14. Epstein pleaded not guilty. The disgraced billionaire was facing up to 45 years for the charges.
