Apple has reportedly issued an apology after it was revealed that the company allegedly let contractors hear private conversations through Siri.

The information was revealed via an anonymous whistleblower who said that the contractors are given a task called “grading” by Apple, which is a process to improve the efficiency of their automated system. In Apple’s privacy agreements, they did not say that there will be human interaction with data collected from users.

Because of the mishap, Apple users will now have to opt into human reviewers being able to hear their Siri conversations. Along with that, the reviews will only be Apple employees. Via a statement issued, Apple said: “As a result of our review, we realize we haven't been fully living up to our high ideals, and for that we apologize."
