A high-speed chase in Miami involving a hijacked UPS truck and police ended with a shootout that left four people dead which includes the two suspected robbers, the UPS driver, and an uninvolved motorist.
The chase spanned two counties beginning in Miami-Dade county at 4:15 PM following the robbers' attempted the hit a Coral Gables jewelry store. After exchanging gunfire with the jewelry store owner, the robbers commandeered the UPS truck and abducted its driver. A silent alarm back at the jewelry store alerted law enforcement who pursued the robbers. Police "terminated" the chase 20 miles away in Broward County.
