Netflix recently added a film called 'The First Temptation of Christ,' a movie created by a YouTube comedy troupe that depicts Jesus as a gay man who brought his boyfriend home to meet his family on his 30th birthday. Since then, there has been major backlash towards the Brazilian film, resulting a petition surfacing, which two million reportedly have signed.

The petition is calling for the film to be removed from Netflix’s catalog, despite it being a movie that shows “humor through satire” as said by comedy troupe Porta dos Fundos. The troupe issued a statement on the backlash, saying “Porta dos Fundos values artistic freedom and humor through satire on the most diverse cultural themes of our society and believes that freedom of expression is an essential construction for a democratic country.” Co-founder Fabio Porchat said “It doesn’t incite violence, we’re not saying people shouldn’t believe in God."
