Chet Hanks recently caught backlash for speaking Jamaican patois while on the Golden Globes red carpet, and now Hanks has responded to the backlash via Instagram.
Hanks posted a screenshot of a CNN article along with the caption saying “Average citizens: damn this is scary I can’t believe we’re on the verge of WW3 let me check the news smh.” Take a look above.

Chet Hanks was at the Golden Globes on Sunday (January 5) as his father, Tom Hanks, was set to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement award, and Chet stirred controversy with a video from the red carpet.
The 29-year-old uploaded a video to Instagram where he was speaking in patois, which he captioned, "BIG UP FIMI WHOL FAMILY SOON COM AT DI AWARDS NA SEEN 🔥 🔥 🔥 CHUNE IN." Chet responded to the backlash, specifically an article from CNN, stating, "Average citizens: damn this is scary I can’t believe we’re on the verge of WW3 let me check the news smh." He then pointed to the CNN headline, "Tom Hanks' son Chet is filmed speaking patois at the Golden Globes -- and the internet is baffled."
