Tyler Perry's 26-year-old nephew, Gavin Porter, was found dead in his cell at a prison facility near St. Helena Parish in Louisiana on Tuesday (February 25) night. Gavin's mother is Tyler Perry's sister.

According to TMZ, authorities told Gavin's family that he died by hanging himself with a bedsheet while in solitary confinement. Gavin, who was sentenced to 20 years for shooting and killing his biological father back in 2016 during an argument, was sent to solitary over the weekend for fighting with another inmate. Guards checked on him at 6 pm and he was fine, but at 8 pm he was found dead.

Authorities told Gavin's family that no foul play was involved, but they are skeptical about the situation. Tyler Perry has yet to publicly address Gavin's death.
