According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hasher Jallal Taheb, 23, pleaded guilty to planning an attack on the White House. Taheb reportedly became the target of a sting operation that involved federal law enforcement duping the 23-year-old into believing he was buying a truckload of weapons for his attack in Washington.
Taheb was originally arrested in January 2019 and pleaded guilty to one count of planning to destroy a federal building. His sentencing is scheduled to take place on June 23. U.S. Attorney Byung J. “BJay” Pak said "Taheb hatched a dangerous plan that would have resulted in unimaginable injury," adding, “We are grateful to community members who noticed his dangerous evolution and alerted law enforcement.”
Police arrested Taheb on Jan. 16, 2019 when he was attempting to purchase a series of semiautomatic assault rifles, explosive devices, in addition to an anti-tank weapon.
