China has been making a serious push to flatten the curve, and now the country is making changes to its law to do so. According to reports, China is set to ban the consumption of wild and domesticated animals, which includes cats and dogs.
The first city in China to ban the consumption of animals raised as pets is Shenzhen. The city also banned eating state-protected wild animals and other farmed terrestrial wild species. Chinese authorities stated the consequences of going against the ban, saying, "If convicted, they will be subjected to a fine of 30 times of the wild animal’s value, if the animal is above the value of 10,000CNY," which is equal to $1,400 USD.
News of this comes after China noted they are lifting the lockdown on Wuhan--the reported epicenter of the coronavirus.
