Swizz Beatz and Timbaland put together the ‘VERZUZ’ battle series that has found legendary songwriters, producers, and musicians facing off against one another, going back and forth as they play their hits. Previously, Babyface and Teddy Riley were set to face off, but that match up was postponed. However, RZA and DJ Premier stepped up and squared off with their music this past Saturday night.
While the two were playing classic songs they produced, each producer managed to give some history behind what went into creating the songs that became coveted by many hip hop fans.
Premier spoke on an instance where RZA revealed to him that he was planning on starting Wu-Tang Clan, and talked about another instance when RZA saw Premier in the club and said he had joints in response to Premier’s legendary production run in the ‘90s that are “gonna whip yo a**.” Watch above.
