Gervonta Davis was previously in the news after footage of the boxer allegedly trying to swing on his ex-girlfriend surfaced. Now, the boxer is back in the news after a lawsuit was filed against him claiming he allegedly tried to pay for over $250,000 worth of jewelry with a fake check.
Shyne Jewelers in Philadelphia sued Davis for unjust enrichment and breach of contract after the alleged incident took place in April 2019. Shyne Jewelers said Davis purchased a $130,000 Richard Millie watch, which was a legit purchase. From there, the boxer reportedly copped more jewelry, including a another $130,000 Richard Millie watch, four customized “GTD” pendants amounting to $12,000, a $60,000 customized Tank pendant, and more. Shyne Jewelers reportedly sent the boxer the jewelry except for the pendants, and Davis responded by sending the company a cashier’s check via a representative.
However, according to the jeweler’s statement in court documents, “Davis knew that the Cashier’s Check was counterfeit, and he acted intentionally and with malicious intent to deceive Shyne and deprive Shyne of its property and the services it provided to him.” Along with that, the company says Davis has been wearing the jewels and posting them on social media. Davis is being sued for $250,000 plus their lawyer fees. Stay tuned for more details on this situation.
