Footage has surfaced of a shotgun-wielding robbery suspect being fatally shot by police in Napa, California.

According to reports, 24-year-old Brandan Reid Nylander took a hammer to break a case inside of a Napa Walmart, stealing ammunition inside of the case and throwing the hammer at an employee. Deputy Gregg Lee approached Nylander 20 minutes after the incident, and video shows the man wearing a black T-shirt emblazoned "DEATH PROOF," the title of a Quentin Tarantino movie. Nylander held his loaded shotgun as he got out of the car and Lee responded by firing two gunshots that missed Nylander.

The suspect then turned his back and lifted both arms, but still held his rifle in his left hand as he moved to the front of his car. Lee then fired a third shot that struck Nylander’s buttocks, then a fourth that hit him in the back of the neck, fatally injuring him.

Sheriff John Robertson said he would've done the same if he were in Lee's position, adding that "Mr. Nylander, by his own action, was a threat to the deputies."
