Dave East recently took to Instagram Live to speak about the death of his best friend and close collaborator Kiing Shooter, who reportedly died due to complications from the coronavirus along with preexisting liver problems.
Kiing Shooter got his start after releasing freestyles and tracks with Dave East, including East’s 2018 single "Traumatized." The Queensbridge rapper later signed a deal with Nas' brother Jungle on his Street Dreams label in 2019, and then another deal with Nas' Mass Appeal label. Kiing Shooter dropped his last project, the mixtape Still Outside on Street Dreams and Mass Appeal in March 2020, which also featured Dave East.
Nas paid tribute to Kiing Shooter on Instagram, writing, "@kiingshooter You made your mark and got your wings /On many hearts, you pulled their strings /From QB to Heaven, the world in between/What a pleasure to have you, in our lives, in this world, in our world /We shared our street dreams. Condolences to @kiingshooter family and friends."
