Businesses were burned amid protests across Minneapolis in the wake of the death of George Floyd, who died after a police officer was videotaped kneeling on his neck. Amid the protests, a looter was also shot and killed by a pawnshop owner, who police confirmed is in custody.
Images and videos showed buildings going up in a blaze, including an apartment building that was under construction and a Wendy's. Neighbors in the area were hosing down their houses to keep the fires from spreading as Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called for the city to remain calm amid the chaos. Ben Crump, attorney for Floyd's family, urged people to stop the violence, telling CNN, "We don't need that. We need people focused on getting justice."
