Update 06/03/2020 7:15pm:
Drew Brees ruffled some feathers with his remarks about the kneeling protest popularized by Colin Kaepernick in order to bring awareness to police brutality and systemic racism. Kaepernick has been largely proven correct in his assessment of the structural issues plaguing America. Nevertheless, Drew Brees remains a staunch opponent of kneeling during the national anthem.
This drew the ire of LeBron James who tweeted in response: "WOW MAN!!. Is it still surprising at this point. Sure isn’t! You literally still don’t understand why Kap was kneeling on one knee?? Has absolute nothing to do with the disrespect of and our soldiers(men and women) who keep our land free. My father-in-law was one of those"
LeBron continued: "men who fought as well for this country. I asked him question about it and thank him all the time for his commitement. He never found Kap peaceful protest offensive because he and I both know what’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong! God bless you."

Drew Brees recently sat down for an interview with Yahoo's On The Move, and Daniel Roberts asked Brees about his thoughts on NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem. Brees then stated, "I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America."
Brees went on to explain that he thinks about the sacrifices that both of his grandfathers made in the military for their country. He went on to address the current civil unrest in the U.S. following the death of George Floyd. Brees then stated, "Is everything right with our country right now? No, it's not. We still have a long away to go. But, I think what you do by standing there and showing respect for the flag with your hand over your heart, is it shows unity. It shows that we are all in this together. We can all do better and that we are all part of the solution."
Snoop Dogg replied to Yahoo Finance's post of the interview, writing, "Drew u on bullssh*t. S. T. F. U." TDE artist Isaiah Rashad also commented, writing, "DREW BREES PLAYS FOR NEW ORLEANS BUT STILL DONT SEE WHY BLACK PPL FIGHT FOR EQUALITY.."
