TMZ reports that the family of ex-Minneapolis police officer Thomas Lane is seeking donations for his legal defense fund. Lane's family set up the website to solicit donations and are pleading with the public to help Thomas. The website makes the case that the rookie officer tried saving George Floyd's life by suggesting the officers roll the now-deceased man on his side - a suggestion which Lane says Chauvin refused.
The website also claims that Lane called the ambulance prior to George Floyd losing consciousness. When medics arrived, the website claims, Lane "did not hesitate to jump into the Ambulance where he started performing CPR to try and save George Floyd’s life." Citing the vaunted "chain of command" as the reason the rookie officer couldn't do more.
Nevertheless, Thomas Lane remains locked up on $1 million bail.
