According to reports, retailers like Nike, Walmart, Target, and more have pulled Washington Redskins merchandise from their shelves after the organization revealed they were considering a name change because of backlash to the name, which some consider to be racist.
Target issued a statement on the matter saying, “We are in the process of removing the items from our assortment.” Walmart took to Twitter and said they were “discontinuing the sale of items that reference the team’s name and logo.” Nike previously pulled Redskins merchandise from their online store.
Pepsi also issued a statement, saying “We have been in conversations with the NFL and Washington management for a few weeks about this issue. We believe it is time for a change. We are pleased to see the steps the team announced today, and we look forward to continued partnership." Stay tuned for more details.

Many brands and companies have been removing offensive names and imagery from the companies, and now after some pushback, the Washington Redskins are reportedly considering changing the name of their team after years of backlash.
Team owner Dan Snyder issued a statement on the potential name change, saying “This process allows the team to take into account not only the proud tradition and history of the franchise but also input from our alumni, the organization, sponsors, the National Football League and the local community it is proud to represent on and off the field."
Redskins head coach Ron Rivera issued a statement on the matter as well, saying, “This issue is of personal importance to me, and I look forward to working closely with Dan Snyder to make sure we continue the mission of honoring and supporting Native Americans and our Military.” Previously, Nike removed all Washington Redskins merchandise from their website.
