T.I. Says 50 Cent Would've Been Nelly Had He Been from the Midwest

T.I. appeared on Ebro in the Morning Thursday and took the opportunity to throw a jab at 50 Cent during the conversation. At one point during the discussion, T.I. expressed his discontent with the sliding scale hip-hop is judged upon. He said that while New York is the birthplace of hip-hop and has a storied tradition of lyricism, there is also a lot of subpar music coming from the city.

Tip said that there is a bevy of artists that only get as much love as they do because they're from New York. When asked to give an example of one such artist, T.I. used 50 Cent to illustrate his point. According to T.I., if 50 Cent were from somewhere else he wouldn't be as celebrated as he is. Tip said a 50 Cent from the midwest would basically be Nelly.
