Update 06/20/2019 7:35pm:

Rapper Sad Boy Loko, real name Mario Hernandez Pacheco, has remained behind bars for over ten months without bail. A preliminary hearing this Monday (June 17), revealed that the situation will remain.

The rapper was arrested on August 3, 2018, on suspicion of attempted murder, robbery, and assault likely to produce great bodily harm. Sad Boy Loko has pled not guilty to all charges, with his lawyers claiming there is no evidence to link him to the crime.

Sad Boy Loko is accused of beating up, kicking, and stabbing a 19-year-old man after stealing his backpack, which contained ecstasy, marijuana, mushrooms, and acid. He allegedly carried out the crime with two minors and an adult known as "Yellow Shirt."

The details of the crime were revealed in court, alleging that Sad Boy, Yellow Shirt, and the two minors were riding around selling the 19-year-old victim's drugs. At one point, Yellow Shirt got in the car with the victim, referred to as "AS" to protect his identity, and Yellow Shirt brandished a knife and took the backpack from AS.

After AS threatened to call the police to retrieve his backpack, Yellow Shirt attacked him and AS retaliated by shooting Yellow Shirt several times with a BB Gun. Yellow Shirt then allegedly stabbed AS and fled the scene with Sad Boy Loko and the two minors.

AS called 911 and was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries, which required three days of recovery. Surveillance video from the Speedy Mart & Liquor, where they all stopped during the day, was used as evidence to show the man's alleged attackers. The video showed Sad Boy Loko alone in the store, and another shot showed Yellow Shirt and the minors. The minors and Sad Boy Loko were arrested following the incident, while Yellow Shirt is still at large.

Sad Boy Loko's attorney pointed out discrepancies in the timing of the event, along with the victim's description of Sad Boy Loko. AS described Sad Boy Loko as a heavy-set, short man, wearing a large blue Dodgers hat, but the rapper was  5’8″ and 140 pounds at the time of his arrest. The rapper also has various tattoos on his head and arms, which AS didn't describe his attacker as having.

The judge stated that "It’s clear that it was a gang group effort," adding that "no bail remains appropriate."
