Former Miss Kentucky Ramsey BethAnn Bearse, 29, was sentenced to two years in prison after she admitted to exchanging sexual photos with a 15-year-old teenage student when she was working as a West Virginia school teacher. In addition to her sentence, she will have 10 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender for life. Bearse must report to the Lakin Correctional Center and Jail on or before 10 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2020.
Bearse addressed the situation in court after pleading guilty to one count of possessing material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct in December 2019. She stated, "Since I am the adult, and he was just a teenager, it is my fault, and I accept full blame for the situation. So that's how I'm guilty of this crime. I messed up big-time."
Bearse admitted to exchanging photos with the student on Snapchat between August and October 2018 when questioned by police. The teen's parents found the images on his phone and alerted the authorities. In court, Bearse claims she meant to send the initial photo to her husband, but when the student asked her to send more, she continued to send them because she was "afraid to not appease him."
