Update 07/20/2020 7:40pm:

According to reports, Mark and Patricia McCloskey have been charged with unlawful use of a weapon and fourth-degree assault, both felonies, for waving and pointing their guns at Black Lives Matter protesters back in late June. Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner said after announcing the charges, “It is illegal to wave weapons in a threatening manner — that is unlawful in the city of St. Louis.” However, Gardner isn't looking for the most punitive sentence these charges carry. Instead of the maximum four-year prison term, Gardner will reportedly seek a diversion program such as community service if the couple is convicted.

The viral video of Mark McCloskey, 63, and his 61-year-old wife, Patricia, standing in front of their St. Louis mansion pointing guns at protesters has sparked calls for the McCloskeys, two attorneys, to be arrested and disbarred. However, Mark McCloskey appears to think that peaceful protesters looking to picket the mayor's home was akin to the start of the French Revolution.

"It was like the storming of the Bastille, the gate came down and a large crowd of angry, aggressive people poured through," said McCloskey. "I was terrified that we'd be murdered within seconds. Our house would be burned down, our pets would be killed."

Mark said he and his wife called the police and grabbed their firearms as protesters neared. "A mob of at least 100 smashed through the historic wrought iron gates of Portland Place, destroying them, rushed towards my home where my family was having dinner outside and put us in fear for our lives," said McCloskey. He also claims, "One fellow standing right in front of me pulled out two pistol magazines, clicked them together, and said, 'You're next.' That was the first death threat we got that night."

A march in St. Louis, Missouri, found protesters demanding that Mayor Lyda Krewsom resign. However, while protesting, a white couple could be seen outside of their mansion, pointing their guns at those protesters, while shouting at them.

In the video, the protesters can be heard saying, “Resign Lyda, take the cops with you.” The backlash against the mayor reportedly stems from Lyda Krewsom reading names and addresses of people who wrote letters asking the mayor to defund the police. Krewsom apologized for the Facebook live briefing and removed it from online, but noted that she “has absolutely no intention of resigning.”

Once again, Donald Trump reportedly retweeted the video before deleting. As of now, no charges were filed against the couple.
