FBG Duck, 26, was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon while shopping with two friends in the Gold Coast area of Chicago. Police say two cars approached the group and four gunmen opened fire. FBG Duck, whose real name was Carlton Weekly, was dead on arrival at Northwestern Memorial while his friends' injuries were serious but non-fatal.
Police are investigating whether the attack was in retaliation for his latest music video, "Dead B******," where he mocks dead members of a rival gang. Duck was said to be affiliated with the Tookaville faction (named after Shondale 'Tooka' Gregory, who was killed in 2011) of the Gangster Disciples. The music video, which was released on July 10th and is currently approaching 4 million views on YouTube, shows the late rapper make disrespectful comments towards members of the rival Black Disciples gang who have died.
"'Said I wasn't gon' diss the dead and okay, I did it. But n****, f*** T-Roy and Odee, them dead b***hes," says one of the lyrics in the FBG Duck video.
Duck was referring to Odee Perry, a Black Disciples member who was gunned down in 2011 only months after Tooka's death. The Black Disciples gang later named one of its factions O-Block in Odee's honor. James 'T-Roy' Johnson was an alleged member of O-Block and was killed in 2017. In addition, FBG Duck dissed J-Money, Lil Boo, Sheroid, Lil Steve, D Thang, Baldy, and Keta - all of whom have passed away.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said the Tookaville and O-Block factions have been feuding for an extended period of time. She also claimed that the gunmen were able to track down FBG Duck because he had been livestreaming his activities throughout the city.
It's been reported that at least four Chicago police precincts have been warned of the high probability of further violence due to Duck's death. Currently, no suspects are in custody.
