MBNel explained that he started writing raps in class towards the end of high school because he was bored. Him and his friends began playing around with recording by using his mom's laptop and a mic from the video game series, Rock Band.
MBNel goes on to explain using the N-word as a Filipino rapper and how "Love My Gang" gave him his first taste of rap success. Nel says the record was his first time investing in his music. With over 2 million YouTube views currently, the track gained 11,459 views in just one week and the video was shot for $600.
