Nas caused a stir when he name-dropped Doja Cat on the single "Ultra Black" from his latest album King's Disease. In the song, Nas says "We goin' ultra-black, unapologetically black/ The opposite of Doja Cat, Michael Blackson black." Doja Cat has seemingly taken the whole thing in stride and is looking to capitalize on the controversy by dropping a new single entitled "NAS."

However, Nas recently appeared on Power 106 in Los Angeles promoting his new Hitboy produced project and discussed the Doja Cat situation. "I just really was saying a rhyme that rhymed with 'ultra black,'" said Nas. "I didn't even think of it. It's all love. It was just like, 'Michael Blackson black'... It's bars, it's lines. We play with words." Nas said there were no ill-intentions with the bars and described the vibe around making "Ultra Black" as simply "having a good time."
