Coming off of an MVP season last year, the Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named the 2019-20 Defensive Player of the Year. Antetokounmpo beat out Rudy Gobert and Anthony Davis for the award. While Giannis has been impressive on the offensive side of the court, averaging 29.5 points and 5.6 assists, his defensive numbers have been equally as stellar. Giannis is averaging 13.6 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game. His dominant play on both sides has led the Milwaukee Bucks to a 56-17 record and the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference playoff bracket.
The 2019-20 DPOY also places Giannis in illustrious company as one of only five players in the history of the game to secure both MVP and DPOY honors. The others include Hakeem Olajuwon, Kevin Garnett, David Robinson, and Michael Jordan.
