Part 2: Jemele on Doc Rivers Saying America Doesn't Love Black People Back
--------
Jemele Hill returned to VladTV to talk about her new show with Cari Champion, "Stick to Sports," as well as another show with Van Lathan called, "The Wire: Way Down in the Hole." Her show with Van Lathan breaks down every episode of HBO's "The Wire." Hill said "The Wire" did not draw big ratings during its run and finally received its recognition towards the end of the series. She said the show gives viewers an opportunity to get into the show and give fans the same communal feel that "Sopranos" and "Game of Thrones" fans got to enjoy.
After acknowledging how well "The Wire" holds up today, the conversation transitioned to the recent Jacob Blake shooting. Hill said she tried to avoid watching the video because she doesn't want to become desensitized to incidents involving police shooting unarmed African Americans. The sports journalist stated that society's reached a point where "the brutalization of Black bodies is the expectation." Hill also questioned how people could debate if what happened to Blake was justified.
