According to reports, Kodak Black was denied access to seeing a rabbi so that he can practice his Jewish faith while incarcerated. The rapper’s lawyer—Bradford Cohen, noted the rapper is preparing to file a lawsuit if Kodak cannot get what he’s been asking for months at this point.
The rapper reportedly requested a consultation with his own personal rabbi, according to reports. Bradford Cohen says although Kodak has not converted, the rapper identifies with the faith. Despite this, Cohen says the feds have been quiet about Kodak’s requests to see a rabbi.
The Bureau of Prisons noted that they go to great lengths to accommodate the religious needs of inmates. However, Cohen and Kodak do not feel that is the case. It was noted they are gearing up to sue for violating the rapper’s first amendment right to practice his religion if the matter does not change. Kodak’s lawyer did reveal he spoke with a chaplain at the facility Kodak is being held in and was told that phone calls with a rabbi would not be an issue. However, face-to-face meetups have been postponed due to COVID concerns.
