The Boston Celtics dropped Game 2 to the Miami Heat to go down 0-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals. After yet another tough loss, the Celtics reportedly "imploded" in the locker room, specifically Marcus Smart. The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn was the first to report the raucous nature of the Celtics' locker room postgame.
Marcus Smart is screaming in the #Celtics locker room and there is a bunch of arguing going on. Smart comes out say “y’all on that bullshit!”, tweeted Washburn. "Team is imploding. Smart is in bathroom and there is still screaming coming from locker room."
Washburn also reported that items were thrown in the course of the blowup. ESPN's Malika Andrews also reported hearing "loud clanks" while standing outside Boston's locker room. Naturally the Celtics players and head coach downplayed the confrontation. “It was nothing,” said Kemba Walker. “It was nothing. I ain’t got much to speak on about it.” Head coach Brad Stevens also declined to offer details. “Guys were emotional after a hard game — hard loss,” said Stevens.
Boston loss Thursday night's matchup to the Heat after giving up another substantial lead late in the fourth quarter. As the team looks to regroup, they are at least displaying a united front despite evidence pointing to potential lingering issues.
