Recently, Kentucky AG Daniel Cameron revealed that two of the three officers involved in the murder of Breonna Taylor were not charged after a grand jury decision in her case. Now, the only officer in the case to be charged—former officer Brett Hankison, has entered a plea of not guilty.

Since the shooting of Taylor, massive protests have sparked across the United States and caused much backlash against Cameron and the LMPD. Despite the protests, Hankison was fired from his job and only charged with three counts of wanton endangerment. Hankison was previously indicted last week, and was released shortly after posting $15,000 for bail.

If convicted, Hankison will face up to five years in prison. A condition of Hankison’s bond requires him to give up all of his weapons. The lawyer for Hankison asked that the ex-cop be able to keep his weapons because he is a former cop whose life has been threatened as a result of the incident. The judge on the case reportedly denied the request. Stay tuned for more details.
