Update 09/30/2020 10:31am:
Shams Charania, a journalist with The Atlantic, provided an update about former NBA player Delonte West.
On Tuesday (September 29), Charania wrote on Twitter, "Mark Cuban reached out to Delonte West's mother, Delphina Addison, asking how he can help. Answer was simple: Find Delonte. Cuban did on Monday, waited with West until his mother arrived to hotel, and West finally took step many close to him have awaited: Entered rehab."
This comes after various videos and photos of Delonte dancing erratically, begging for money or food, or wandering aimlessly. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban stepped in this week to help Delonte, but this wasn't the first time he tried to help West. In 2016, Cuban told The Dallas News, "We’ve tried to help him so many times, you have no idea."
Original 09/29/2020 12:40am:
Last week, a video surfaced of former NBA player Delonte West on the side of a Texas highway holding a sign. West has had his fair share of challenges with mental health and reported substance abuse. In a more recent video now circulating social media, West is seen getting help from Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks. West spent time playing for the Mavs so seeing Cuban lend a hand to a former player will undoubtedly bolster his image around the league.
According to reports, Cuban is offering to pay for Delonte's rehab treatment. West's family has been trying desperately to get him into rehab but to no avail. However, he seems "open" to the idea now.
