Update 10/04/2020 11:28am:

This past June, protests in the United States rose, as the death of George Floyd resulted in widespread Black Lives Matter demonstrations and uprising in various cities. As a result, Paramount Network canceled the show ‘Cops,’ which was running for 32 seasons up until that point. Paramount also reportedly removed all traces of ‘Cops’ from their website. Now, news surfaced, noting ‘Cops’ is back in production. However, it won’t be aired in the United States.

The production company that worked with Paramount for the show—Langley Productions, started production for the show again in Washington state to fulfill contractual agreements in overseas territories.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement on the matter, saying, “We have a longstanding relationship with Cops and Langley Productions, and we are pleased they have decided to return, highlighting the outstanding work our deputies provide to all of you.” Reports noted that filming is set to go through November 2020.

According to reports, the longstanding television program Cops is ending its 32-season run amid nationwide condemnation of law enforcement. The Hollywood Reporter says the show was pulled after the unrest following George Floyd's murder at the hands (or knee rather) of Minneapolis police.

Cops currently air on WGN America but the contract ends in June with all indications pointing toward the cable company not renewing. The ViacomCBS-owned streaming service Pluto TV also airs the show but it is unclear whether the show will be renewed after that contract expires.

The Hollywood Reporter also reports that A&E will no longer air its Live PD which has a similar conceit to Cops. A source reportedly told THR that it is "unlikely" that the show will occupy its usual weekend time slots. Discovery ID's show Body Cam similar to the two aforementioned programs will also be shelved for the "foreseeable" future.
