Boxer Adrien Broner was recently jailed after being held in contempt of court after failing to produce paperwork explaining why he still hasn't paid the $800,000 judgment from a 2018 civil lawsuit. Broner told the court that he had $13 to his name but undermined his story by posting a video on Instagram, showing off thousands of dollars in cash.
“Mr. Broner has continually defied every [court order] I’ve given,” said judge Nancy Margaret Russo. “The jig is up today.” When pressed about where he got the cash that was flashed on Instagram, Broner said it was for the video from one of his rich friends. According to Broner's attorney Stanley Jackson, the boxer is heavily reliant upon others to manage his day-to-day life. Jackson claims Broner doesn't know about the status of his leased vehicles, whether his home is in his name, and receives money from friends that direct deposit funds into his account.
