Update 11/23/2020 4:26pm:

According to reports, Harvey Weinstein is being filmed constantly in prison to avoid another Jeffrey Epstein-type situation. Law enforcement sources talked to TMZ and noted that a correctional officer was assigned to Weinstein to monitor him whenever he is moving in the state prison where he’s currently serving time.

The report noted that whatever guard is placed on Weinstein for the day has “a camera on him at eye-level.” Along with that, prison officials made it clear they can use different types of cameras when monitoring an inmate’s safety on the premises. News of this comes after Weinstein, and his lawyers asked to put a pause on proceeding with a civil suit against him. Stay tuned for more details.

According to reports, Harvey Weinstein has reportedly asked a federal judge in New York to hold off on proceeding with a civil suit. Weinstein’s lawyer Imran Ansari said that it would be impossible for Weinstein to participate in deposition due to having poor health.

In the motion, Ansari said, “Mr. Weinstein’s health has had a dramatic decline this week, as heavily reported in the media. These health concerns make it practically impossible to conduct his deposition and impedes his fundamental right to participate in his defense.” The civil suit was filed by a former employee of Weinstein Co.—Alexandra Canosa, who alleges that Weinstein repeatedly raped and assaulted her, using the removal of her career as a threat.

Ansari continued on, saying, “In the absence of a stay, Mr. Weinstein’s constitutional rights to defend himself against the criminal allegations are unreasonably and unfairly burdened. Mr. Weinstein would be forced to make ‘the difficult choice between being prejudiced in civil litigation, ‘if he asserts his Fifth Amendment privilege,’ or from being prejudiced in the criminal litigation if he waives that privilege in the civil litigation.” Currently, Weinstein is facing 11 felony charges in Los Angeles. Disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein is allegedly facing problems according to his lawyers, who claim he’ll likely die if he isn’t released from prison.

A hearing took place this past Friday to decide if Weinstein should be released on bail, pending an appeal over a Manhattan rape conviction that has found him in prison.

Weinstein’s lawyer—Barry Kamins, told a judge during a virtual hearing at the Appellate Division First Department “[Weinstein’s] physical and mental condition has so deteriorated, I do not think it’s an overstatement to say that if he is not released as part of this application, his chances of surviving in prison are rather low.” Kamins went on to say Weinstein is “almost blind,” wheelchair-bound, and is on 20 medications. Lawyers for Weinstein were reportedly applying for a $2 million bail pending the outcome of his appeal of the rape case, which hasn’t been filed yet. Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year sentence at the Wende Correctional Facility in Buffalo.

According to reports, disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is facing six additional felony sexual assault charges in Los Angels County for incidents dating back to 2004. A breakdown of the charges finds Weinstein facing three felony counts each of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation, two counts of sexual battery by restraint, and one count of sexual penetration by use of force.

“I am thankful to the first women who reported these crimes and whose courage have given strength to others to come forward,” said District Attorney Jackie Lacey in a statement issued Friday. “The willingness of these latest victims to testify against a powerful man gives us the additional evidence we need to build a compelling criminal case.”

In addition to the new charges, Weinstein now faces a total of 140 years in prison in connection with all of his sexual assault cases. Weinstein, who is currently imprisoned in New York after being convicted of committing a criminal sexual act and third-degree rape, is scheduled for an extradition hearing on Dec. 11.
