According to reports, a 48-year-old Florida woman was arrested after claiming to have found her roommate Jon Leonard to be dead in their mobile home. The woman allegedly hid her roommate's body in the trash so that she could collect the man’s social security benefits.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s office issued a statement noting the woman—Michelle Haney reportedly didn’t call the cops for three weeks but kept the man’s body in a closet for three weeks. When the smell of the dead corpse became too much, she stuffed the man’s body in a trash can and left it with a neighbor.
Haney allegedly told the neighbor she would come back for the bin but never came back. Months later, the neighbor opened the trash bin and found the dead body. Haney was charged with abuse of a human body, and other charges for the woman are still pending.
