Despite the pandemic causing various setbacks in the music industry, Lil Baby is continuing to experience massive success. It was recently revealed that his album "My Turn" earned more than any other album in 2020, according to HITS Daily Double.
Lil Baby's project earned an estimated $19 million this year, and it is Lil Baby's first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. The album topped the Billboard 200 chart again in June, and has 20 billion plays across various platforms and counting. He’s also up for a pair of Grammy nominations, for rap performance and rap song, each for his song "The Bigger Picture."
Second on the list of highest-earning albums of the year is Taylor Swift's Folklore ($16.3M), followed by Pop Smoke's Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon ($15.8M), Juice Wrld's Legends Never Die ($15.6M), and The Weeknd's After Hours ($15.5M).
Lil Baby recently spoke to the L.A. Times about having success but not being able to celebrate and connect with fans. He explained, "That’s the bittersweet part about it. I haven’t been able to take it all in, because I haven’t gotten fruits of my labor yet. Hopefully, with the vaccine, stuff will be open next summer. My album’s strong enough to ride it out till the end, though. I almost feel like I got robbed, but I ain’t gonna stop. Everything happens for a reason.”
