According to reports, a Florida man was arrested in New Mexico earlier this year and extradited to his home state to face trial for the murder of his wife. David Anthony, 44, accepted a plea deal admitting to the murder of his wife and using pandemic quarantine rules to cover up the murder. Anthony pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and kidnapping and was sentenced to 38 years in prison for accepting the deal.
Authorities believe Anthony murdered his wife on March 21 in the couple's garage. A neighbor reportedly heard a woman's "blood-curdling screams" and subsequent pleas of "No! No!" Investigators later found soiled towels, along with droplets of blood and large bleach stains on the floor of the garage.
Anthony then sent messages to his wife's family and friends explaining how she's required to quarantine at a hospital after contracting the coronavirus. Cellphone towers pinged David and his wife's cellphones in Texas on March 21 and New Mexico State Police caught up with the murderous husband on March 31.
The remains of Anthony's wife, Gretchen, were recently discovered just as the 44-year-old accepted his 38-year prison bid.
