According to reports, Atlanta police have identified 24-year-old Daquan Reed as the shooter behind the death of 7-year-old Kennedy Maxie. The story hit mainstream platforms after the child was struck in the head by a stray bullet while out Christmas shopping with her mother and aunt. Maxie was rushed to the hospital and died five days later.

Authorities reportedly secured a warrant for Reed, a Virginia native, "on charges of felony murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and reckless conduct."

In an effort to ensure Reed's capture, police are offering a $15,000 reward for any information on the suspect. "The men and women of the Atlanta Police Department will not rest until we've brought this individual to justice," said interim police chief Rodney Bryant. "We have identified him, and we will continue to work diligently to bring him back into the city of Atlanta to serve out his justice."
