Miya Ponsetto's criminal history was unearthed after she went viral for falsely accusing a Black teen of stealing her phone. It was found that Ponsetto, aka SoHo Karen, had two DUI arrests and a public intoxication charge in 2020 alone.
Video footage of her second DUI arrest in October was released over the weekend. During the arrest, Ponsetto is seen kicking and screaming as officers attempted to subdue her.
According to an eyewitness, the incident started with Ponsetto arguing with her mother on the side of the road. The eyewitness says Ponsetto and her mother got back into their Range Rover after she stopped and asked them if they needed any help. The eyewitness tailed the pair and called the cops, fearing Ponsetto was drunk by the way she was driving.
After stopping at a gas station, Miya became increasingly aggressive as the cops attempted to detain her. She insulted the authorities, demanded to see a warrant, and tried avoiding cuffs until she was finally wrestled to the ground and subdued.
"There are gang members killing people right now and you're arresting a girl?" Ponsetto questioned during the arrest.
The October 3rd arrest was her second DUI arrest after receiving the first in Malibu in May 2020. Miya pled no contest to the first arrest on September 28, and received three years probation before her second arrest just five days later. According to authorities, her blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit during her second DUI.
Ponsetto was charged with DUI, resisting arrest, and obstructing/delaying a peace officer or EMT for her second DUI and is due in court on January 28, where she faces possible jail time for violating her probation. On that same day, she also has a pretrial hearing for her drunk in public arrest from last February in Beverly Hills.
Miya was most recently in a New York court on Saturday for arraignment related to her attempted assault, attempted robbery, grand larceny, and endangering the welfare of a child charges but did not enter a plea. She was then released from custody and returned to Los Angeles. She's been ordered to stay away from Keyon Harrold and his son, who she attacked, and is due in Manhattan Criminal Court on March 29.
