New York rapper CJ is one of the most buzzing artists thanks to his hit single, "Whoopty," which is currently sitting at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has 147 million views on YouTube. Despite his success, peers and critics have dismissed the rapper for lacking originality.
22Gz took the criticism a step further by comparing CJ to Tekashi 6ix9ine. In a since-deleted Instagram post, the Brooklyn rapper posted a Pitchfork article labeling CJ as "nothing but a shameless ripoff."
"@realcj_ giving me 69 vibes & boy from staten island the safest borough in nyc," 22gz wrote in the caption.
With his uncle James Cruz being the former president of Bad Boy Entertainment, CJ has already signed a deal with Warner Records and is currently preparing to release his debut EP, executive produced by French Montana. Earlier this week, he dropped the video to his new single, "BOP," which currently has over 4 million views on YouTube.
