According to reports, all five of the lawyers who were set to represent Donald Trump during his impeachment trial have quit a week before the scheduled trial.
The team was led by lawyer Butch Bowers, and it was noted that the South Carolina lawyer quit because of discrepancies on how to defend Trump. ABC News noted the issues stemmed from Trump wanting the lawyers to argue over election fraud, noting that he won. However, the lawyers were looking to focus on the trial's constitutionality for a president who is no longer in office. Top advisors for Trump reportedly wanted to keep the focus on the trial as well.
Because of the issues, it was noted that the lawyers' decision to stop representing Trump was a “mutual decision” between both parties. Stay tuned for more updates.
